I am not a gamer, but my son really likes "Halo." As my home office is also in the game room, I hear "Halo" played a lot. I couldn't help but listen. As I listened, I was struck by how much the soundtrack reminded me of the Moody Blues. Finally, I picked it up on Amazon. I have also gotten the soudntracks for the sequels.
The soundtrack has much of the echo-y electronic sound effects and the fuzzed lead guiter the Moodies used to such great effect in the late '60's and early '70's. Vocally,there is a lot of the chanting style the Bee Gees used during the same period.
It shows the production values of big-name games like "Halo" that they can put out a soundtrack. What can you say about a soundtrack? The music echoes the things going on in the game. Thumping drums and thundering synthesizers in the action scenes, quiet echoes in the quiet scenes. Unlike John Williams' great soundtracks for "Star Wars" and the first three "Harry Potter" movies, I didn't detect any particular themes for particular characters. These are basically mood pieces seamlessly stitched together to form a coherent whole.
If you like the Moody Blues, you'll like this. If you like the game, you'll also like this. "Halo" is one CD. If you really like the music, both "Halo 2" and "Halo 3" are two CD's. Listen and be transported to the world of the Master Chief, Cortana, the Covenant, the Arbiter, and everyone else who populates the game.

I was so happy when it arrived, and for a good reason too! This CD is great! It was shipped and arrived promptly for a good deal.

This is a must for all halo fans. you can use it for withdrawel sympthoms when your partner has had enough of you playing the game and would like your attention to daily life. Really good.

Then you will like this soundtrack. Halo has the best music that I have ever heard in a video game. This soundtrack sounds like it should be from a movie. It's definitely worth the money. Get it.
